I sat in meditation and pointed awareness to a concept of inner peace that my mind had already distorted since my last mediation.

There I sat trying to stitch fragments of uncooperative and fleeing thoughts back together into a reliable truth.

It was like chasing birds resplendent with beauty that are always flying this way and that and fading into the distance.

The mediation turned into an exercise of begging these beautiful thought birds to return and to come to rest, roosted within my mind and not to scatter and fly again, as is the nature of birds and thoughts.

Then I sat in meditation and instead pointed awareness to a practiced embodiment of peace and stillness. I went to a familiar and formless spaciousness that over the years has gradually been revealed. Revealed not in thought, but more as a reliable sensation or presence.

That which was sought was no further away than my breath. I was simply turning attention away from thought and instead pointing it toward the awakened self that is always right here. So close that it is mostly overlooked by the seeking mind.

It’s important to remember that the body and the heart is merely a portal to true peace, not a container. How could the limitations of a body contain the infinite?

We go within to meet the call of the infinite and the imperishable grace of love that transcends all form.

We go within to the experience of embodiment. But we don’t stop when the awareness arrives in the heart. We don’t stop with the experience of peace. We continue beyond the heart to the source of that experience.

We follow the awareness beyond the open portal of the heart and into the vastness of imperishable stillness and peace of infinite love.

The awakened self is Infinite Stillness – witnessing with unwavering equanimity and grace the finite and ceaseless creations and movements of mind.

All movements of mind (chasing desires, retreating from fears, clinging to comfort) appear and disappear, come and go, arise and pass, within the stillness of consciousness.

We are that stillness of consciousness experiencing the movements and distractions of mind.

It is natural that that which moves will seem much more interesting or captivating than the eternal stillness within which it moves.

But that’s only when we are not yet familiar or comfortable with the infinite richness and peace of stillness.

Our attentions are endlessly turned toward the world of form and movement and thus turned away from the infinite and formless stillness of unconditional loving awareness.

To be free of the captivations and reactive dictates of mind, patiently become more curious about the unwavering presence and peace of stillness until it becomes more familiar and trustworthy than the ceaseless movements and distractions of the mind.

Resting AS Stillness, we are free to play with all the creations of the mind.
You Are Infinite Stillness Experiencing the Movement of Self

You Are Infinite Stillness Experiencing the Movement of Self

You Are Infinite Stillness Experiencing the Movement of Self

The personal “i” can never come fully to rest IN the stillness of consciousness.

That position maintains a primary i-dentification with a personal you that constantly moves in and out of rest and maintains that there is a separate stillness of unmoving consciousness that is other than you.

We can only be truly at rest in the awakening AS the vast stillness of consciousness within which a personal story of self is constantly moving.

This is awakening.

I AM is the vast stillness of consciousness/awareness within which all personal modulations of that consciousness come and go.

Everything personal that follows I AM is transient, moving, limited and not ever truly at rest.

We are (everything is) the limitless stillness and presence of consciousness modulated into a temporary experience of limitation.

We are the infinite experiencing a finite modulation.

Both the personal experience (modulation) and the One Consciousness are present AND not separate. Nothing exists outside of consciousness.

We are not either, or.

We are Yes, And….

The invitation is to become more interested in the stillness than with the modulations.
The Presence of Peace

The Presence of Peace

The Presence of Peace

How do I find peace within the disturbances moving around me and within me?

You don’t.

The disturbances are moving within the presence of undisturbed peace.

Peace does not return when the disturbances are ultimately controlled, stilled or vanquished. This is an impossibility.

The peace is never not present. It does not come and go.

Storms come and go within the embrace of the undisturbed sky.

Waves rage upon the surface of the deep and abiding ocean.

The drama, comedy or horror part of the movie plays upon the pure and undisturbed screen.

The transient movement of mind, emotion and body appear and disappear within the undisturbed peace of pure awareness.

All movement appears within a great stillness.

We are more identified with the transient and unstable disturbances and joys of mind and form than we are with the imperishable peace of conscious within which everything comes and goes, arises and passes, is born and dies.

We are distracted by the movement of form and thought which blinds us to the formless stillness of BEing.

We needn’t deny the storms, waves, projections, thoughts, emotions and sensations of this life….

The error is in the denial of the imperishable peace.

In the denial of the imperishable peace, we have nowhere reliable to rest while we may graciously witness all the disturbances moving within us and around us.
The Fundamental Error

The Fundamental Error

The Fundamental Error

You are not who or what you ‘think’ you are.

Consequently life is not about what you think life is about.

The fundamental error is believing that life is about satisfying the needs of a thought-constructed separate ego self that you are not.

Satisfying this unreliable illusion of self creates an unreliable and ultimately unfulfilling and unsustainable world of illusion.

We’re witnessing the crumbling of that fragile world today.

We have a precious and unprecedented opportunity now to awaken our most divine and substantial nature of being.

We have the opportunity to embrace and embody the true loving consciousness that we are, which exists prior to and beyond any diaphanous story of self that the mind is constantly reconstructing.

We have the opportunity to reshape our lives and the world based on the Imperishable Truths of Love, Unity and the Divine Nature of One Consciousness.
